You can definitely tell Kristen back at work this week with the early morning wake up's and the daily "what am I going to wear tomorrow" saga every night. I must admit, it is nice seeing her in something other than work-out clothes. Everything seems to be going well for her so far. I know one of Kristen's biggest fears in recent weeks was that she was going to have to face her students from Spring semester who were going to ask about Reid. She was dreading having to tell the story over and over... but as it worked out, she only has one student out of about 120 students this semester who she has taught before. She is teaching a class that she has never taught at Kennesaw State University before, so I think she welcomes the new content and the challenge of preparing what to teach every day.

Luna and I made a trip to the vet today. He has been past due for his immunizations for quite some time and he has had a little blood coming out of his rear end after bowel movements (not much, but enough to make us a little worried). The vet thinks it could be from him eating grass, but they are going to run some lab work on his feces to see if there is anything out of the norm - just to be on the safe side. Wouldn't you just love to be the person who has to dissect poo and look at it under a microscope? But the vet said that Luna looked great otherwise. He is seven years old and when she did the examination, she commented on how fit and trim he was for being a larger, 13 lbs cat (most male cats are 10-11 lbs). She also remarked on how well his teeth looked. He didn't care too much for his two shots he received and ended up chomping on the vet tech arm - but I guess that is what comes along with the territory, right?. She quickly put him back in his cage when they were done and I think Luna was glad to be back in and ready to go home. He meowed the entire car ride there, but didn't make a peep on the ride home; he had enough.

In other news, my previous blog post touched on the fact that my current project at work was coming to an end and I was looking forward to some time off between projects. Today, I accepted a new role that is going to start sometime around the 7th or 13th of September with possibly a little work between now and then. It feels good to know where I will be going and what I will be doing - I don't need to stress and worry about it anymore. I am going to be taking on a pilot program at a large car retailier dot com for a few months and will eventually lead into me helping establish a larger program of about 18 months and $10-15 million. I will be working on estimations, statement of work creation, staffing, etc. I am excited about it but know it is probably going to be quite a bit of work. But with that hard work, I think there is room for a lot of personal and professional growth along the way.

Our friends Hillary and Paul are going to be coming into town tomorrow from Switzerland. They are making their way to Washington (where her family is from) and extended their layover in Atlanta so they could visit with us. The last time we saw them was about this same time last year when Kristen was in the hospital (they actually left the day before Reid was born). We have a lot to catch up on, but we really enjoy spending every moment possible with them. They are such a great couple and are actually the ones we met up with in Prague in March '09. They both work for the UN and we enjoy hearing about their worldly travels. Thursday night, we are going to drive up to see my parents in South Carolina. They live in a place called The Reserve at Lake Keowee and thought that we might enjoy some time on the lake (assuming the weather cooperates) and drinking some wine and relaxing outside of the city. Hillary and Paul leave for the second leg of their trip on Sunday so it will be a short visit - but we are looking forward it it.
