Not sure how I did it, but I managed to lose my wallet somewhere between the ride home in my car last night and the house. The number of places it could be are limited and thought that I was going crazy after I spent nearly two hours tearing the house apart this afternoon. I took all of the cushions off the couch, turned the couches upside down, checked the garbage, shorts pockets, under the car seat, in the garage, in every single drawer in the house... and the list can go on and on. So frustrating, but I ended up canceling all five of the cards I had in my wallet - three debit cards, an amex and another credit card. And with that being said, I have no access to cash for the next couple of days until Kristen gets back from her trip to Texas. Luckily, Kristen's car has a tank full of gas and my car has about a quarter tank. I can get places - just cant spend any money once I get there. And the only good news of today was that I had left my driver's license in my car the other day when I went to the gym... so that didn't get lost. Talk about a nightmare it would have been to have to go to the DMV!

Today was a pretty relaxed day (after I gave up looking for my wallet) as I spent it watching what amounted to be about eight hours of college football. I went over to our friends Amit and Alison's house where we had wings and ice-cold beer. Does it get any better than that? I cant remember the last time I sat down and watched that much football, but with it being the first weekend, I was obligated to do so, right?

Some bit of bad news today with the Martin family that we met in the NICU at Egleston... their son Joseph is back at the hospital with what appears to be a case of pneumonia. His is on a little bit of oxygen support and they discovered that his nissen fundoplication surgery that he had a few months ago isn't doing the job anymore (Reid had this same surgery). Joseph will likely have to have surgery to make the repairs before he gets discharged as it is causing him to aspirate... so please keep them in your prayers. Just when they thought they had got over the hurdle and used to life at home, they are back at it again...

And speaking of the hospital, there were three other families that spent an extended period of time in the NICU with us that we got to know fairly well. Bonnie, the Egleston NICU receptionist, ended up talking to all of those families this week and called me to let us know that she was thinking about us and to tell us that all of the other families (whose kids have all gone home now) had asked about us during their conversation. It was a voice I hadn't heard in almost three months, and it brought a smile to my face today. Bonnie is such a sweet lady that always greeted us at the entrance of the NICU with the biggest of smiles. No matter how bad of a day Reid had, she would always say something encouraging and always made us feel like we were amongst family. She referred to me as Mr. Elley and would always call Kristen as my 'beautiful wife'. To her, Reid was "Ol' Blue Eyes". When we would call in to the hospital, she would always tell us how she would poke her head into see Reid and look at his big blue eyes and his smile. Or when we would get in to the NICU and Reid had a bad day full of loud crying... "you better hurry on back there and comfort ol' blue eyes". I still have a voice message on my phone from her the day after Reid passed - she called to let us know that she was thinking about us and how she would never forget our beautiful family... and of course, "Ol' Blue Eyes". Some of the smallest things bring tears to your eyes and a large smile on your face... and this was one of them today!
