Time seems to escape me these days and every time I think about getting on the computer to blog, something seems to get in the way. I don't really feel that we are that much busier than normal; I just have less free time at home. Working from home for the past year has spoiled me and now that I am in the office for 10-12 hrs a day, there just isn't enough time in the day.

This weekend was fairly productive for me - I stayed busy all weekend as Kristen was in Houston visiting her mom and sister. This weekend, I washed both cars, grocery shopped, got a hair cut, made the weekly trip to Home Depot, bagged leaves from the yard, paid bills, worked, polished my work shoes... and watched some football. :) Now if I could have an extra day on my hands to do nothing...

Fall weather seems to have finally made it to Atlanta this weekend. The weather has been in the 70s for the past few days and looking at the forecast for this week, there are a few days with highs in the 60s with lows around 42 degrees. It is my favorite time of year and am looking forward to some consistently cooler temps. Nothing better than cracking the windows open at night and getting some of that crisp air in the house...

And speaking of cooler temperatures... Kristen and I have booked a trip to Switzerland in December and are going to visit our friends Hillary and Paul. Tickets were on sale for about $850 each - a deal that we couldn't pass up. And the best part about having neighbors that work for Delta is the chance of being upgraded (or exit row seats at a minimum). Nonetheless, we are going to stay with Hillary and Paul in Bern and make some day trips throughout the country and may even make it to Germany and/or France (a couple hour trip by train). It will be Christmas season in Europe and we are excited about visiting the open-air Christmas markets. And with us loving cheese and chocolate, is there a better place to be?!?!? Kristen's renewed passport came in the mail yesterday, so we are set to go (well, minus the winter clothing shopping that we need to do).

So, other than spending money on airfare, we really haven't been up to much. Work is keeping both Kristen and I busy, which I guess is a good thing. Kristen finally got feedback on the narrative/paper that she turned in about a month ago... and as much as Kristen expected to get some negative comments, she got nothing but praise! She put in a lot of hard work into that paper and it paid off! My job is going well and I am enjoying the new project. It is interesting work and I have a pretty good team this time around, so I am pleased.

Oh... and before I forget... my parent's friends all chipped in and bought a tree for their yard in memory of Reid. They took them to a tree farm and allowed them to pick out any tree they wanted and ended up getting a really pretty, 25-30 foot oak. The tree was placed on the side of their house - a place that they look at every day. We will be taking a trip up to South Carolina in a couple of weeks, so we are anxious to see it.

Well, I am going to wrap up for today... It has been awhile since I last wrote, so I wanted to get something out there and let you know that we are still alive. Hope all is well!

  1. It is good to read the blogs, the news, events, and funny stuff. I also know how frustrating and
painful it is to lose a wallet,,,hope all went well with that. Weekly trips to Home Depot, do they know you by name? Your trip sounds wonderful, and you both will have a great time.
Keep posting the updates, I love reading your posts, as your words are interesting and funny to read. Say hello to all for me, will call Kristen later. Love John
